Last night I watched Stewart Regan tweet that Scottish Football needs Rangers. Now if that wasn't the biggest indicator as to how the demise of the Ibrox club is going to be treated then Mervan Celik is a stick on for World Player of the Year once he settles into life on the Southside.

Today I settled down to watch this team. This team of whom we all rely on according to the esteemed Mr Regan. For one second I glanced at my couch as I thought it may have changed into a Delorean and I was in fact back in 1987. There was the famous blue sea of Ibrox. The blue sea of empty plastic chairs. I thought I had missed some clarion call for a boycott then I remembered this was Rangers. Their fans don't believe in that, they much prefer deference and to demand other people acquiesce to sort out their problems or else. They are the people after all. No, no boycott just the call echoing around the empty stands of Where Are The People!

Then we get to the actual football.

The orangemen were striding over Ibrox's famous turf. Playing with pace and exuberance. Getting the ball down and hitting incisively on the break. However that wasn't the orangemen the few poor souls doing the bouncy over in the corner wanted to be playing with a purpose and panache. The volume of task faced by those guys in lifting the "atmosphere" at the home of the champions is dwarfed by the size of task McCoist has to prove the following words regarding his only signing of the January window:

"He's a crowd pleaser. He is the type the fans will like"

Unfortunately Ally it seems he is the type that Celtic fans will like. I thought it was LeGuen who gifted me the worst player I had ever seen in a Rangers jersey but it looks like his corpulent counterpart has went and undone him with a player of such a breathtaking lack of ability that I suspect he was only signed as he was a Ticketus employee and this was the demand he made or he would tell all to Traynor.

As the game went on the larger the smile grew upon my face. However as time wore on, and I watched Rangers kick anything in orange that moved, the smile was replaced by annoyance. I thought to myself if this is what Regan thinks the Scottish game needs we may as well close the doors as this is not football.

When you have a side that uses industrial tactics, and are state sanctioned to do so by the Refs and pundits who encourage this, is it any wonder we need somebody like Mark Wotte? The first thing he will say is "you don't play football in this country". Simples. The reason is for that is simply Rangers.

Sir Walter was allowed to assemble, for more money than anyone else, a team of hatchet men who were then each granted a licence to kill by the governing body. For 4 years the league has had to adjust to playing foot-rugby to try and play against Rangers.

This has meant managers such as Jim Jeffries and Craig Brown are sought after. Any other league in the world would have them after dinner speaking so you can reminisce about the bygone days of yore. Not here. We allow guys like Smith, Jeffries and Brown to shape the youth. Shape them into cauliflower eared, just boot it to f*** "athletes". The destructive tactics have destroyed the league and the co-efficient. Our league rewarded tackles and the ability to get away with a bad one as opposed to rewarding skill and passing.

If Rangers go it will free the other sides to play like Celtic, or Dundee Utd today. Play football. With pace and skill.

Now Mr Regan is not a stupid man so he cannot be advocating this based on sporting reasons. That is patently obvious. Why it is being advocated is far more worrying and more sinister.

Avarice.

This is the legacy that Murray has left the Scottish game. The avarice was borne from the monumental ego of Murray and their jealousy of the one real star we wear with pride on our chests. We are being asked to forgive Rangers for their sins and return them to our bosoms as our game depends on it. That is an admission that their sins have infact jeopardised the entire Scottish game. The insatiable desire among their fans created by their owners bombast began a death spiral. For every fiver they borrowed a tenner. For every super casino and Ronaldo in the jet, they borrowed another tenner. Which is fine but at the same time as borrowing tenners they were telling the taxman it was actually only £2.50 but don't worry as our stadium is worth one jazillion pounds, our auditors say so.

We have a club with a man at the helm who was willing to do anything to catch the rainbow he was chasing. He did this with zero regard for "the good of the game".

We are being force fed the rubbish that we should allow a club in a self inflicted death spiral a reprieve as we might lose a TV deal. The day that happens is the day we have finally 100% sold the soul of the game. Maybe Regan is correct and the whole game would die but I would honestly prefer to see it all die with a clean conscience than watch what in my mind would be the Scottish WWE, which is what we would give birth to if that clubs actions are put aside.

Rangers aren't a football team. They are a millstone. A rancid weight around the neck of the Scottish game. The sooner that rope is cut and the weight allowed to drop the quicker we can return the national game to a sport. A meritocracy. Where skill and sound management rather than cheating and favours gets you to the top.

If we are building the Scottish game with this club at the foundations it will be a matter of time before the subsidence brings the whole structure down. If the future is based on Rangers I want that Delorean. I want to go and do us all a favour and make sure that integrity rather than avarice is what matters.

An excellent assessment and one which needs to be discussed and argued at length. A pathetic TV contract is not reason enough to forgive and forget. The battle begins here.

I concur, an excellent assessment and I just wanted to list The Fat Le Guen's achievements thus far:

*Knocked out of the Champions League in August, and lost at home, to a mid table Swedish team in Malmo FF who finished bottom of their Europa League group with 1/18 points & -11 GD.

*Knocked out of the Europa League in August to Slovenian minnows NK Maribor, who also finished bottom of their Europa League group with 1/18 points and -9 GD.

*Knocked out of the CIS Cup in September to 1ST DIVISION Falkirk.

*Knocked out of the Scottish Cup in February AT HOME 2-0 to Dundee United, the team in 7th place (bottom half of the SPL) and 31 points and 38 goals behind them in the league table.

*In summary: The Fat Le Guen has knocked them out of 4 competitions in the space of 6 months. The last time they were out of Europe, the Scottish Cup and the League Cup by the month of February was in 1990 a.k.a 22 years ago.

*David Healy is their #1 striker

*How good was Celik today? AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA FLOP FLOP FLOP!

*Their only semi decent player, the notorious blonde haired CHEAT, is out for the season.

Rangers last 11 SPL games - P11 W6(50%) D2(20%) L3(30%) F17 A8 Pts 20/33 GD +9 & of those 17 goals, 2 came from own goal(Kenneth and Craigan) and 2 from pens - 1 resulted by BLATANT CHEATING from Aluko.

Our last 12 SPL games - P12 W12(100%) D0(0%) L0(0%) F25 A4 Pts 36/36 GD +21 & of those 25 goals, NONE of them came from own goals or pens.

That is now just 1 defeat in our last 23 games in all competitions, 15 back to back wins in domestic competitions, 9 clean sheets in our last 12 games in domestic competitions & the last time we conceded more than 1 goal in a game was 3 and a half months ago against Kilmarnock a.k.a 23 games ago. Rangers on the other hand have won just 3 times in their last 6 SPL games & the 2 defeats came to two men called LENNON! Also they have had a pathetic 5 clean sheets in their last 15 games in all domestic competitions. I've just realised: They have also lost 3 games and drawn 1 in their last 8 in all competitions!

Neil Lennon overall record - P98 W72(73%) D12(13%) L14(14%) F205 A74 GD +131

Fat Paul Le Guen overall record - P32 W19(59%) D7(19%) L6(22%) F56 A24 GD +32

Neil Lennon record at Celtic Park - P44 W35(80%) D6(13%) L3(7%)

Fat Le Guen record at Ibrox - P16 W9(56%) D5(31%) L2(13%)

Neil Lennon record away - P48 W33(69%) D6(13%) L9(18%)

Fat Le Guen record away - P16 W10(62%) D1(7%) L5(31%)

Neil Lennon record in Europe - P12 W3(25%) D4(33%) L5(42%)

Fat Le Guen record in Europe - P4 W0(0%) D2(50%) L2(50%)

Neil Lennon record in Scottish Cup - P9 W7(78%) D1(11%) L1(11%)

Fat Le Guen record in Scottish Cup - P2 W1(50%) D0(0%) L1(50%)

Neil Lennon record in CIS Cup - P7 W6(86%) D0(0%) L1(14%)

Fat Le Guen record in CIS Cup - P1 W0(0%) D0(0%) L0(100%)

We shall not be moved, the treble is within our grasp

Oh how I would love to see Rangers FC and anything that may grow from their ashes be wiped from history, but it just is never going to happen. Of the 42 "Pro" Clubs in Scotland there will always be a team that is a form of "Rangers". Of that we can be certain.

I saw the tweets from Mr Regan second hand as he seems to have blocked me. The reason? All I can think of is that I asked him why the SFA Cup draw was not made at "primetime" and it is no wonder that they cannot get a decent sponsor for it. Typical of the SFA not to like pertinent questions, eh?

Anyway, I digress. Rangers Football Club CAN be good for Scottish Football. Yes, they can. Why is that? How? Well I suggest this. Rangers "Newco" should be made to start at 42nd position on the Scottish League Ladder. By doing this RFC2012 would give a much needed cash injection to the smaller clubs around Scotland. It would be a lifeline for Clubs like Clyde & Airdrie who have went to the trouble of complying with the Stadium regulations for the SPL, but are currently languishing down the leagues. It would allow teams like Cowdenbeath, Stranraer, QotS to maybe build a decent community club, to be able to build good facilities that the local communities can use.

How Ironic, that approx 25 years after the greed and recklessness of a David Murray & Graeme Souness led Rangers sent Scottish football into a spiral of debt, the abandonment of local youths for poor foreign journeymen, and the terrible 2 team competition that we currently have, that they could be given a shot at righting that wrong.

It could almost be seen as "Community Service".

This is how RFC2012 could be good for Scottish Football.

For RFC2012 to be parachuted back into the SPL without any penalties is not good for Scottish Football. It follows the same path of greed that has saw our game onto its knees. Infact IMO I think it could kill the game.

Would it not be better for Scottish Football to die of poverty, than a death through a lack of morals?

Having witnessed the blind fools who run the game here and who show a constant lack of foresight, it would not surprise me that RFC were admitted back to the SPL. In this case, I will be watching how our representatives on the board of Celtic behave.

Without being over dramatic, it could kill my interest in the game dead. I know I will not be alone.

For the good of the game, RFC2012 have to start again. AT THE BOTTOM!

Firstly, the above comments are are very articulate and precise, statistics etc. etc.,so please gimme some slack.I for one totally agree that they should be made to start from the very bottom and work they`re way through the the leagues, just as any `new` teams have to.At the same time given no favours or preference, but I will have to see it,to believe it.This will NOT happen as we have seen time and time again in the past, but like glass coffins....
However,I also believe that the TV deals will sort themselves out, this will take time but it will right itself. The SPL has a product in demand and it will ALWAYS have deals on the table.Maybe not as lucrative, but none the less a product in demand, from ex-pats and family/friends within the UK.
The SFA are a JOKE,that is plain for all to see,so lets see how this will pan out.Again,in my uninformed opinion,I do think that the case of HMRC v RFC will magically be postponed until the end of the season. Thus giving them even more time to sort their lifejackets and lifeboats before leaving their rat-infested dingy.I hope I am wrong, and as the Faithful sing `We`re havin a party when rangers die` turns out to be exactly THAT ie.AN ICE-CREAM&JELLY EXTRAVAGANZA,CONGOED RIGHT UP,THE WAKE OF ALL WAKES.
And with that thought,TTFRNOO,see you all at the wake.HH M&T.
