podcast-badgeTo celebrate Podcast 150 we are delighted to say that Brian Dempsey joins Harry and Eddie this week. Brian takes the guys through his entire Celtic career over the course of an hour and a half. He talks of the invite which led to him joining the board in 1989 and the betrayal which saw him removed 5 months later. Brian describes the long campaign which followed and how he felt when the Kellys and the Whites were finally removed. He talks of the cost involved - both financial and personal. We discuss his relationship with Fergus and what type of man the Canadian was. Brian describes what his vision of the club was and whether it has been realised and he reflects on whether the choices he made in 1994 were the right ones. Eddie and Harry ask him all the questions they think the fans would have wanted asked and some of the answers may surprise you. A must listen for anyone who wants to know more about this pivotal time in our club's history.

Very well done lads some good stuff on the podcast did not agree with everything he said but liked the fact that he admitted to his mistakes.BTW
With the Celticunderground now having such a large following maybe you should now consider selling tshirts to help with the costs of running your website sure there would be plenty takers if they were of good quality. Hail Hail

great podcast Eddie, one of the best.
Like a lot of these guys, you don't know what you can believe.
Brian's thoughts on Celtic and scottish football today are very true, and the way most old timers feel i think. I'm only 30 and i feel the same - the game is finished in scotland. Like Brian says, It's a real struggle to find a taker to give away a spare ticket on a saturday. Guys pay for season tickets and can't be bothered to turn up at half the games. - Sky TV is slowly killing it.

Great interview Eddie and Harry, as someone that just about remembers those turbulent times. It brought a lot of bad mermories flooding back.

I look forward to the pod every week, well done on the 150.

I like the idea of us not exploiting listeners though. You know?

TiminExile - Some of Dempsey's comments rang so true, having written on here from the beginning about the need for a complete revamp of all of Scottish football and the need to make EVERY game at Celtic Park an "event."

It's not easy but I believe we suffer greatly with EPL on our doorstep.

Petty those in charge of the game are letting their business deficiencies ruin the game.

Harry the problem Celtic have is population Scotland is far too small a country to handle the amount of professional teams it has.
The idea of making every game @ Celtic Park an event is a great but one of the problems we also have is a very negative society when it comes to change just look @ the way the arsehole media behaved when Rod Stewart made a half time appearance @ Hampden when Celtic played there during the 90s.

Superb podcast, utterly fascinating. The story about Kevin Kelly phoning Dempsey up in the middle of the night about the £1m blew my mind.

The cynic in me can't help but feeling that Dempsey puts across an image of himself as a bit too good to be true. He is obviously a very principled man, with Celic in his heart, and it was enlightening to hear his side of the saga.

Great work bhoys.

Great podcast, really enjoyed that. Didn't enjoy with everything Dempsey said but nevertheless he's an interesting character and deserving of a place in Tic fokelore.

Re: Games at CP...think we need to start going down the American route and making them into family days out, with lots of pre match and even post match entertainment. Mind you that would require that those in power at CP actually brought in the services of competent marketing people to set it up correctly.

Go down the American route thats ok as long as it does not cost as much as going to an event in USA.

Brilliant podcast Ghuys- I'm tipping the proverbial hat. Although i don't agree with all his conclusions and philosophe's on Celtic, you can tell at Heart all he ever wanted was what is best for the club and fans.....

I admire the man for the part he played in the "Rebels" victory taking a high personal toll that none of us knew about.....BUT i can't agree with him on Schadenfraude it really really makes my day gettin it up em....

HAIL HAIL
