Punters Corner - Faithful Thru & Thru Edition PDF Print E-mail
Written by Harry Brady

Following the second half performance on Sunday afternoon we had another performance that was pleasing on the eye on Thursday.  Even more pleasing was the professionalism with which we approached the second half.  Those of us of a certain age will have bitter recollections of European ties when we kept “going for it” only to lose a stupid goal(s).  We’d them stumble out of Celtic Park bemoaning the ability of Johnny Foreigner to do a professional job.  Thursday that was us.  Once we got to 2 goals, the most important thing was that the tie finished …Utrecht 0 and we did that.  The crowd was disappointing but let’s look on the bright side; those loyal fans who attended have a better chance of getting a ticket in the ballot for the final!

And so onto the bets and odds for this week.  What I thought I’d do is read Eddie’s predictions on twitter, wait a few weeks until you forget, then write an article with the bets and then say “I told you so!”  Oops, someone else has already done that.

Money-Back Special
Paddy Power will refund all losing 4 folds and upwards if the bet is winning at half time but not at full time

This weeks punters corner will be short and sweet as we’re nearly at early kick off time and need to get the bets placed.

Celtic v St Mirren

Last time we played St Mirren I had just become a dad and was sitting with a wee bhoy on my knee who was just coming to terms with the world.  My wife was sitting with a screaming child on one side and a screaming husband on the other as I peered at the grainy download stream to see the Buddies fire in their 3rd and 4th goals of the game.

On Thursday night a guy sitting somewhere behind me was giving Sammy pelters very time he touched the ball, usually in anticipation of an error.  Whilst I would criticise Aiden if he gave the ball away or misplaced a pass or ballooned the ball over after his run across the 18 yd line, I did it AFTER he made the mistake.  The second goal on Thursday summed this guy up.  As Sammy chested the ball, the guy began  “Aww you useless f…Yes!”

Aye – faithful through and through!

Anyway this was a comment about jumping on players backs too early. Not a problem yesterday when I even sent a text to Eddie about how well brown was playing
