We had a request for a Stevie Murray picture recently so we are happy to oblige. This pic would appear to be from around 1973 and to me looks like Falkirk at Brockville. Perhaps one of you hawkeyed readers could confirm this ? The picture is from the Scottish Football Monthly magazine which ran from 1972-1974.
Murray was bought as a replacement for Bobby Murdoch and unfortunately he retired from injury in early 1976. A clever guy by all accounts, he would study for banking exams while the likes of Jinky and Dixie would be playing card schools up the back of the bus. Last time I heard he was a bank manager with the Clydesdale Bank.
This quaint little photo is taken from Celtic’s tour of North America in 1970 and features a game in Bermuda. Rather than add anything I have scanned the back of the photo which gives an explanation of the games in Bermuda.
The players look like Paul Wilson and Bobby Lennox to me and the little ground appears to have a hillside as a makeshift terracing more in the style of a Scottish juniors ground. A very unusual setting for any Celtic team to play in.
