Punters Corner - Yes We Might? PDF Print E-mail
Written by Harry Brady

What a week at punters corner!  We didn’t publish last week so I didn’t get a chance to get the semi-final prediction dramatically wrong.  I did manage to get the winner of the national and fifth place though and since paddypower pay out on 5th place I won there.  Also those of you who followed from the start of the season will know we’re on track for big May payouts.  To refresh your memory we went for Chelsea, Newcastle (with Forrest as a sneaky E/W bet), Leeds, Notts County, (Celtic), Inverness.  Looking good!  And following Wednesday night we’re only 11 points behind plus a game between us to go.  Do you think they’re worried yet(?)

I’m sitting watching the leaders debate in Manchester as I write and this weeks Paddypower Bulletin also focuses upon that North of England city focusing upon the Manchester derby between City and United.  With the three matches played between the two teams so far this season there’s been no shortage of drama in the Manchester derby with seven goal thrillers, late winners, multiple goals in injury time and Carlos Tevez scoring against his former club. Paddy Power specials include whether a goal is scored in injury time, number of goals in the game and how much injury time is played. Both teams are 100/1 for a 4-3 victory.

All eyes will also be on one Carlos Tevez, a well-backed 9-2 in the Man of the Match betting. And with ten goals in his last eight games Paddy Power bet on how many Tevez bags in the match and whether he will score more goals or have more shots on target than his somewhat lazier former team mate Dimitar Berbatov.

With Chelsea getting away with their own version of blue murder against Bolton in midweek there is betting on whether Spurs will be awarded a penalty against the champions elect and if any team will win a penalty against Chelsea before the end of the season. Paddy Power’s Money-Back Special will also refund losing first/last scorer, correct score and scorecast bets if Tottenham win the game.

So as we coun't down to get our season book renewals in I'n sure we're getting close to a big announcement on the managers' position.  Hughes?  Well that's the

$64million question!!!

Word is then that Hughes is too pricey and some of the big press outlets are reporting that Alan Pardew is in the frame. Of course it's all rumor and hearsay but I guess that's why we come on here.
I mean surely if we can't afford anyone approaching top level then someone like Levein for example or even Dave Jones or Neil Warnock are a better should than Pardew. For that matter so is Lambert. No doubt if it hadn't been for the points deduction Southampton would probably be jostling with Norwich City for the League 1 title but even that doesn't convince me he has the right stuff plus he got the sack at Charlton. Anyway I hope a rumor is all that is. God in 2 years all we've had to shout about is the League cup final win over Rangers and the signing of Keane. Do the right thing John Reid and walk you arrogant, dithering tit.
