Regular readers will recall that on 23rd February last season I ran odds on whether there would be a new Celtic manager. Many complained it was a betrayal of some sort, but I disagreed. I backed the last manager because I felt the board couldn’t sack a successful manager but Celtic fans were openly talking about a replacement and since this is a fans site for fans I was reflecting what we, the Celtic fans, were discussing. When he did leave I fully back the arrival of Tony Mowbray. It is therefore with a very heavy heart that I bring you a Paddy Power exclusive: Celtic Manager odds for start of season 2010/2011.
Despite his interview with Clyde this week discussing his lack of interest in returning to the goldfish bowl of Glasgow and the tedium of Scottish football where we play the same dross 4 times a season, Paul Lambert is favourite at 3/1. Some notable names then follow.
Must be appointed on a full-time permanent contract I dearly hope all of these are wrong. I still want to believe that Tony Mowbray can deliver the football that I know he desperately wants to. Unfortunately defeat in the Scottish Cup next week will end that. Even if we win the cup I can still see a mutual consent ending of our relationship. If we win the cup and finish less than 7 points behind Rangers I would back Tony for next term, but if I can offer one piece of advice to Tony it is that nothing is impossible and despite printing the above odds, part of me still believes that at 8/1 we’re worth a flutter. Firstly as I say in the piece, this is a Celtic fans site for us to share our views and opinions on everything about the club. At the moment I am only discussing two things with other hoops - refereeing decisions and the manager. As I say at the bottom of the piece, I desperately want the manager to succeed and anyone who knows me knows my biggest fault when talking with other Celts is to always defend the club. I must say however, I found it easier to defend WGS this time last year (as I did here the year before that just before we began our famous 7 game run and was called an idiot) than I do defending Big Tony. The fact is most people I speak with either want Tony to leave or reluctantly accept it's not working and he will leave in the summer. If that's what we as fans are saying I will write about that - we are not the Celtic View.
How would I like it if people talked about me losing my job- unfortunately Ton'y in that game and people do discuss such matters in my industry.
paddyrollingstone - I should have asked for Stuart Baxter odds and I'll need to do a google search to see what he is doing.

1/ Alex Ferguson won 1 league title in his first 5 years with Aberdeen
2/Alex Ferguson took 6 years to win the title @ Man Utd
3/Tommy Burns 1st season as manager of Celtic 4 games left in the title Celtic were still in danger of being relagated.
4/ Jim Mclean was manager of Dundee Utd for 11 years before they won the title.
I am not saying give Tony that amount of time but 1 season seems pretty shabby to me.BTW Harry next time somebody calls you an idiot give them the following quote "dont argue with an idiot you will be brought down to his level & be beaten by there experience".
